what are building block of DNA called ?
- Helices
- proteins
- genes
- nucleotides
A nucleotide is a five-carbon sugar with a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base (adenine , guanine, cytosine, and thymine).
DNA is a double helix and look like a spiral ladder
each side has a sugar phosphate back bone and the rungs of the ladder that connect the slide are nitrogenous base.
Adenine always pair with Thymine
Cytosine always pair with Guanine via three hydrogen bonds
The weak hydrogen bond are important because they allow DNA to easily be opened for replication and transcription.
