The Cal State East Bay Pre-Licensure BSN Program is for students brand new to nursing, who do not yet have an RN license. LVN candidates and Second Bachelor candidates may apply to this program.
This application is for FALL admission to the HAYWARD campus only. Applications close at 8:59 p.m. Pacific time on the application deadline date. Transfer applicants must also submit a Cal State Apply application for Cal State East Bay Nursing BS program in addition to this one by the same deadline as this NursingCAS application.

Priority lists, point scales and individual point totals are kept confidential within the department.
Priority Groups:
- Cal State East Bay students currently attending full-time for at least the last two semesters (6.1 units or more per semester) at the time of application
- Local Admission Area transfer students with majority of transferable units from public community colleges and/or universities in one of these six California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano
- Current Military or Veterans with honorable discharge (submit DD214 or other proof of military status)
Applicants that do not receive priority status are not likely to be admitted due to the high volume of applications from applicants within priority groups.
Students will be evaluated on the following REQUIRED ITEMS:
- 3.00 minimum prerequisite GPA required in two categories
- All eight prerequisite courses combined
- Just the four science prerequisite courses
- 7 year recency requirement for science prerequisites
- Minimum C grade in all prerequisites (C- is too low)
- TEAS score - highest score (ANY version) from first three lifetime attempts only.
- Must score 70% minimum Total Score. Official score report only.
- Must score 65% minimum on English and Reading sections.
- Personal Statement - a few short-answer questions
- Successfully admitted to Cal State East Bay or already an active student by time Nursing program begins.
- Meet ALL Cal State East Bay guidelines and deadlines for general university admission (separate Cal State East Bay university application required for transfer students). University deadlines may be slightly different than nursing deadlines.
OPTIONAL ITEMS FOR ADDITIONAL POINTS:
Candidates offered admission generally have at least one of these point categories in addition to a competitive GPA/TEAS.
- Paid or Unpaid Health or Community Related Experience
- Language Proficiency (in language other than English)
Applications are not considered after 8:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the application deadline date.
To be eligible for FALL admission, all nursing prerequisites must be completed and official transcripts received at NursingCAS by January 31, 2026.
Official transcripts for courses in progress fall term are accepted by NursingCAS until the January 31 deadline, even after the nursing application deadline closes. We highly encourage you to send transcripts immediately after grades are posted, so your application can continue forward quickly in the evaluation process. For any classes already completed at schools you previously attended, please send to NursingCAS now and do not wait for the final deadline.
