Academic Year: 2026
Thank you for submitting an application to Cal State East Bay under the Nursing major.
Here is some important information about the Nursing major at Cal State East Bay.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is an impacted major at Cal State East Bay. A major is considered to be impacted when there are more applications than spaces available. To gain entrance into an Impacted major, students must go through a separate and competitive application process to become a Nursing B.S. major. Students must minimally complete all Nursing prerequisites for their applications to be considered.
Applications for fall 2024 admission are open for two Nursing BS programs:
Post-Licensure Program: For students that already have a California RN license, or will have one before the program begins, and do not yet have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). This program is mostly online and consists of one year full-time or two years part-time advanced nursing courses.
Pre-Licensure Program: For students new to nursing who do not have an RN license. This program is full-time and in-person.
· You must take required prerequisites and meet minimum GPA requirements to be eligible to apply.
· You must submit your University application to Cal State East Bay AND activate your Cal State East Bay NetID in order to submit a Nursing application. Complete your university application early in order to allow enough time for the generation and activation of Net ID, which will be needed when working on your Nursing application. NetID activation usually takes 24-48 hours, so please plan accordingly.
To apply to become a Nursing B.S. major, you must submit a separate online Nursing application available at https://www.nursingcas.org. Before you submit a Nursing application, please read about the Nursing requirements and deadlines to make sure you are ready and do not need to take additional preparatory classes. If you apply and are admitted to the Nursing B.S. program, you will receive a separate letter of admission directly from the Nursing Department.
Your application will go through two layers of evaluation. The Office of Admissions will review your application to ensure that you meet eligibility to attend the university. Nursing Department will review your admissibility to the program based on its separate criteria. If considered admissible by both units, you will be admitted as a Nursing B.S. major.
As a student looking to pursue Nursing as a major and profession, we invite you to attend an informational session to help guide you through the Nursing application process and the minimum requirements to be considered into the Nursing program. Monthly dates and times for the sessions are listed on the Prospective Nursing Students page of the Nursing Department website.
We look forward to your application! For more information, visit www.csueastbay.edu/
