Consonants

 

What Are Consonants?

Consonants are the letters in the alphabet that are not vowels.


✅ Vowels in English:

  • A, E, I, O, U
    (And sometimes Y when it acts like a vowel)


✅ Consonants:

All the other letters in the English alphabet:
B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y (sometimes), Z

So there are:

  • 21 consonants (in most cases)

  • 5 vowels (sometimes 6 if you count "Y")
